Queen Latifah

Dana Elaine Owens - better than the general public by the name of Queen Latifah, is an American performer, actress and acrobat. The work of Queen Latifah in film, television and in music has earned numerous awards. This includes an Golden Globe Award two Screen Actors Guild Awards Two Image Awards A Grammy Award In addition, she has six Grammy nominations, an Emmy Award Nomination and an Academy Award. Queen Latifah is the daughter of the Newark New Jersey schoolteacher and a Newark New Jersey police officer Lancelot Owens Senior, was born and raised within Newark New Jersey. Latifah's parents divorced when she was just 10 years old. Latifah was raised in the Baptist faith and attended Catholic school in Newark New Jersey. In her early twenties, her cousin gave Latifah the name of a stage Latifah that means tender and gentle in Arabic. Latifah is a 5'10" tall power forward on the team at her high school, was always tall. The play she played in her high school, Latifah performed "Home" from The Wiz. Latifah began to beatbox with the fresh rap ladies. Latifah is one of the first members of the Flavor Unit, which was at the time a group made up of DJ Mark the45 King.
