Aaliyah Dana Haaughton gained fame after releasing her first album Age Ain't Nothing More Than a Number in 1994. The singer was only 15 at when the album was released and it went on to become Gold. The album was part of a group that was greatly influenced by R. Kelly and it placed her in the spotlight. In the year 1996 Jermaine and Timbaland came out with Aaliyah's sophomore album One In A Million. It featured If Your Girls Only Knew the single that was most popular. After the release of this work Aaliyah received international recognition for her performance as an R&B singer. In 2002, she appeared in the vampire film Queen of the Damned based on the Anne Rice book. In 2003, she appeared on screen in The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions. In 2001, 1999 2002, 2003 and 1999 the singer was nominated for four Grammy awards. Aarti Mann is the first generation Indian-American who was born in Connecticut. Mann is her stage name. Mann is an abbreviation of her marriage name Mankad. Aarti uses both Aarti Majumdar and Aarti Munn as professional names. Though she initially had tiny film and television parts, her acting career began becoming more popular in the middle of 2000s. The actress has also been featured in Leverage, Suits, Grey's Anatomy and Grey's Anatomy. The actress has been featured in a variety of commercials including Volvo's international car manufacturer. The actress currently resides at Los Angeles along with her wife, son and daughter. She also pursues her acting career.
